Voice or Chatter? Using Structuration Framework Towards a Theory of ICT mediated Citizen Engagement(2016-ongoing)
IT for Change is spearheading a multi-country research study on ICT mediated citizen engagement and its impact on governance structures and processes. With support from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), and the Making All Voices Count (MAVC) consortium, IT for Change is working with eight independent and institutional collaborators from across the globe to lead a comparative research (using a case study methodology) to better understand the ways in which ICT mediated engagement can be empowering for the citizen and transformative for the outcomes of governance. This research study adopts a structuration framework to explain the shifting terrain of governance in these times of flux, drawing attention to policy issues and governance practices that matter for meaningful citizen engagement.
