ITfC organised a workshop with the ICT for Poverty Reduction programme of UNDP’s Poverty Group based in New York on *‘ICTs for Participatory Local Development - Exploring a Systemic Approach’ in Bangalore on 9th and 10th December, 2008*. The workshop offered a forum for researchers from five countries – Brazil, India, Philippines, South Africa and Uganda – to present their initial findings regarding a multi-country ‘ICTs for Participatory Development’ research that IT for Change is coordinating. The research aims to identify critical elements for engaging various local development actors, including local authorities, for employing ICTs systemically for participatory local development, and highlighting the policy and other institutional requirements for such engagement. |

IT for Change carried out a series of three case studies, as a part of understanding community owned ICTD models. This study was carried out for UNDP, as a part of the TFFM (Task Force for Financing Mechanisms) mandate. It is intended to be a brief input to the Task Force on Financial Mechanisms, as part of the research coordinated by Sean O Siochru for UNDP. |

IT for Change is undertaking a collaborative research study with support from UNDP on 'ICTs for Participatory Local Development', the outcomes of which will be published as a toolkit to develop a more systemic application of ICTs in future initiatives. We are collaborating with four partners from the global South on this project - from Brazil, Uganda, South Africa and Philippines. |
