The National Gender Centre (NGC), Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, in partnership with UN Women had undertaken a project to strengthen institutional capacities on Gender Responsive Governance (GRG). The project is aimed to strengthen capacities of national and sub national governments for gender responsive design and implementation of key schemes and policies, so as to ensure better outcomes for women. As part of this project a capacity assessment exercise was carried out through field survey and online survey. The questionnaire for the capacity assessment of ATIs, SIRDs and NIRD broadly revolved around how gender training is currently done, the gender trainers and trainees, the impact and sustainability, the perception of why gender training is done and the degree of a conducive environment for gender training.

The aim of this programme is to develop and enhance capacity of a state core group of trainers in the State level administrative institutions, in the state so that there is a body of trainers in the state who can individually and collectively work to sensitize officers and officials at various levels to deal effectively with the issue of gender responsive governance. These trainers would be exposed inter-alia to concepts of gender, gender planning and analysis, gender and development and gender budgeting, and also would be expected to work towards developing thematic modules which they can effectively use in their own training institutions. Learning’s from this programme can be used effectively by them in their own training institutions or workplace.

As a part of this project, Anita Gurumurthy from IT for Change will be taking a session on 'Using ICT for Rural Women'.
