IT for Change
Location: Bangalore, India

Job Profile:

IT for Change is looking for young thinker-activists to join our research and advocacy team. Our work in bringing development perspectives to the domain of information society studies is unique for its theoretical contributions and active exploration of policy and practice frameworks.

We are keen to recruit young researchers with 2 to 10 years of experience. Demonstrated interest in one or more areas of our work - governance, democracy, globalisation, women's rights and feminist frameworks, social policy, politics of new media and techno-social architectures - is essential. The candidate needs to have an appreciation of the nature of work in policy advocacy – combining the dynamism needed for being strategic with an ability to work collectively and with complete commitment to research rigour and quality.

The work needs a range of skills – ability to work independently, author outputs of very high quality, felicity with quantitative and qualitative research methods and a comfort with spoken and written Indian languages. The candidate will be expected to take on programmatic responsibilities in the organisation, undertake desk research, field visits, coordinate multi-site research processes, prepare policy briefs and communication material, undertake dissemination of research findings for influencing change, organise national and international meetings and workshops, and continuously endeavour to broaden the organisation's network of allies.

Preference will be given to those with a drive for institution-building, and familiar with the challenges and opportunities that NGOs in the global South offer. Applicants should have an appropriate qualification in social sciences/development studies/gender studies with research and project management skills. Knowledge of at least one Indian language will be preferred.

The position and remuneration will be commensurate with the background of the candidate.
