Gurumurthy Kasinathan participated in a webinar organised by the Office of the UN Special Rapporteur on "Facial Recognition in Educational Spaces," on 26 June 2025.
In his talk, Gurumurthy shed light on the risks associated with the use of facial recognition in educational institutions, especially in the Indian context, drawing attention to concerns around leaky data environments, the threat of image morphing, prevailing social norms that shame victims, and the higher vulnerability of children who are unequipped to socially and emotionally negotiate such crises.
