ICT and Inequality – What sustainable strategies to close the Digital Divide by 2030?

Anita Gurumurthy was invited to participate in the 2018 United Nations Public Service Forum hosted by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) at Marrakesh, The Kingdom of Morocco from June 21, 2018 to June 23, 2018.The theme of the conference was “Transforming governance to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. Anita made a presentation on 'ICT and Inequality – What sustainable strategies to close the Digital Divide by 2030?' in Session 3, Working Group 2: Leveraging Technology Innovation for Future Governance. The presentation highlights the various gaps that existed between developed and developing countries with respect to access to the internet, skills and capacities and overall development. It argues for inclusive digitalisation and economic policies, as well as strategic approaches to governing cross border data flows. The presentation can be found here
