IT for Change collaborated with FIAN International to deliver a joint statement at the Interactive Dialogue with the Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development (EMRTD) held on 14 September 2026 as part of the 63rd regular session of the Human Rights Council. The statement was made in response to EMRTD's thematic study report on AI, Cultural Rights and Right to Development. The statement urges states to recognize data as a ‘knowledge commons’ and to establish obligations for dataset transparency, common standards on AI data provenance and use, equitable benefit-sharing, and preferential access for communities whose data is used to train AI.
