Karnataka App based Workers Union (KAWU)
On 28 June 2026, Shobhit participated in the National Consultation on Women Gig and Platform Workers, organised by the Karnataka App based Workers Union (KAWU) as part of a sub grant of the Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD). Held at the Bangalore Gate Hotel, the consultation brought together around 20 participants, including platform workers, trade unions, researchers, and civil society organisations, to discuss implementation of Karnataka's platform workers law and identify priorities for strengthening its regulatory and institutional framework.
Shobhit's intervention focused on the emerging ILO Convention on Decent Work in the Platform Economy, drawing connections between evolving international labour standards and effective implementation of Karnataka's platform workers legislation. The consultation deepened understanding of the project's research questions and generated new collaborations and networks supporting ongoing work on platform labour and workers' rights.
