Responsible AI: Building Capacity While Learning

On 11 May 2026, Sadhana Sanjay participated in the workshop "Responsible AI: Building Capacity While Learning," held at the Australian Consulate-General, Bengaluru, and jointly organised by the Australian Consulate-General and the Aapti Institute. Conducted as part of the BUILD – Assessing the AI Moment from the South project, the workshop brought together 30–40 women technology leaders from the non-profit, technology, foreign policy, and education sectors.

Designed as an interactive, multi-stakeholder event, the workshop explored the building blocks of gender justice in AI systems and the roles of different stakeholders in advancing this vision. Sadhana's intervention emphasised the need to move beyond narrow discussions of bias, ethics, and fairness to address the deeper structural inequalities reproduced by contemporary AI systems, using a series of interactive games to facilitate discussion on the trade offs, compromises, and practical considerations involved in embedding gender equality into AI futures.
