This Centre is an exciting and cutting edge space guiding transformatory social change processes. With a strong focus on participatory methods and marginalised groups, our work has contributed to new development models on the ground through local partnerships.
It is not necessary for applicants to have worked with IT in development before, while they must have an interest in and eagerness about this area. What is more important is have experience in participatory community development work with strong focus on equity and social justice. Applicant should preferably have worked directly with grassroots communities and understand the field realities and sustainable development processes which are required to implement a new development initiative.
The position involves taking autonomous leadership of 'Prakriye', with an independent committed team of around 15. The selected candidate will be able to shape this nascent organization. which is slated to become a premier resource centre for new development processes and practices in the information age, both nationally and globally. The position will entail key responsibilities in strengthening the linkages between field-based practice and IT for Change's research and advocacy mandates.
Candidates will need to be in the age group of 30 to 40, with a versatile skill-set combining communication, training, documentation and team leadership. Excellence in written and spoken Kannada and English is mandatory. A proven track record in independent project implementation is also useful.

The role involves documenting the activities of the centre including training programmes, field visits, interactions with community members as well as internal meetings and processes. The role would involve the preparation of reports, manuals, process documents for the Centre. Prakriye as part of its vibrant work has over time produced many short films and documentaries and keeping a track of the documentation resources created by other members of the team will also be an important responsibility. The candidate also has to coordinate the knowledge creation processes of the Field Centre and the Bengaluru office. For all this, the documentation officer has to also participate in the field activity of the Centre.

We are looking for people with a deep understanding of education and with specialisation in any of the subjects indicated.. However, exceptionally talented fresh graduates could also be considered. Knowledge of Kannada is essential for this position. Candidates must demonstrate interest in exploring ICTs for building networks and learning platforms. A new project is being initiated in Yadgir block, Karnataka as a part of the Kalike Samrudhi Upakrama program, supported by the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, which will aim to improve the teaching learning processes through the integration of ICTs into the education system. To support our work with high schools in Yadgir, we are looking for a technical associate who would provide the technical support for the schools and teachers we work with.

Project Associate - IT

IT for Change is looking for individuals who are willing to commit their technical skills to the process of social change and keen to work in the development sector. The candidate should be able to adjust to the special circumstances of NGO work, and derive satisfaction and fulfilment in being associated with social and development work.
Candidate will be required to support the work of the organization by providing in-house technical support as well as provide application implementation and support for our project partners. Job Profile:

Manage a small team of Technology Support specialists and serve as coach and mentor;

Manage and troubleshoot in areas of IT infrastructure and network (GNU/Linux LAN);
-
Research, implement or modify internal systems as necessary to meet quality work environment;

Track, monitor and maintain technical requirements and resources, including procurement of new systems, hardware and software;

Recommend and implement processes to ensure consistent usage and security of IT systems;

Oversee IT Support for workshops, and for other public organizations that ITfC works with;

Explore new developments in Free Software and experiment with adopting different free software applications within the organisation and at partner's locations in existing and new areas.
Experience and Skills:

Minimum 3 years of work covering information systems and support experience required;

In-depth knowledge of computer operating systems and commonly used applications;

Technical Associate - CAD
Location: Bengaluru, India
This is a part-time position and IT for Change is looking for experts, or people who have used Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications, who are looking at a career in teaching and training.
The ideal candidate will be one willing to use his/ her technical skills for social change and keen to work in the development sector. The candidate will explore the various Free and Open Source Software alternative to CAD tools and applications and develop training modules and materials for higher education faculty. We believe there are excellent opportunities for establishing training institutes in FOSS CAD tools, since these are good and can be freely used without needing to pay huge license fees.
Job Profile:

Candidate should be proficient in using one of more of the 2D and 3D CAD tools – Autocad Qcad (Free and Open Source Software), 3D Max, Maya, Blender (Free Software);

Willingness to learn new applications in CAD area;

Exposure to Free and Open Source software, Linux operating system;

Prior teaching experience will be preferred.

Communication Manager
Location: Bengaluru, India
Job Profile:
The Communications Manager will be expected to provide support to the research, advocacy and field teams of IT for Change in developing appropriate publication and dissemination materials addressing diverse audiences and to communicate with the constituencies critical to our work. S/he will be responsible for the following:

Content management: Supporting the research team in writing, editing, designing and publishing for blogs, websites, periodic bulletins, reports, brochures and other publications.

Strategic Communications: Reaching out to and networking with institutions (such as NGOs and government departments) and press at global and local levels.

Programmatic Management: Taking on related programmatic tasks and responsibilities, establishing internal procedures and protocols to meet deadlines and assure an effective information flow as part of the organisation's routine and on special events such as workshops, visits and trainings.

Web and Social Media management: Optimising IT for Change's online presence, overseeing/creating websites and social media design and managing the content. Experience in web applications, web writing and online communities animation is desirable.

Knowledge creation: Researching the evolution of the organisation's work to support current research and avocacy projects, as well as supporting the research team by generating up-to-date literature reviews on specific topics.
Who we are looking for:
The candidate should be a postgraduate with interest in communication and publication activities for the development sector. S/he must possess excellent writing skills in English, be able to work collaboratively in teams and have a flair for editing.
Oral and written skills in one or more Indian languages is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience in communicating complex issues in a cogent manner to diverse constituencies would be preferred.
Decisions about suitability for the positions and about remuneration depend on appropriate experience and skills. Excellent writing skills and the ability for collaborative team work are prerequisites.
